Dear Members,
As President of the association, I would like to personally THANK all of the those who participated in this campaign either through writing letters or by meeting with legislators and attending committees. The day was a success! Our lobbyist, John Williams, is hopeful that OT / PT / SLP will be funded for individuals who rely on TennCare for health insurance!
The days events consisted of:
- Tennessee Rehabilitation Coalition reception hosted by the Tennessee Physical Therapy Association.
- Individual meetings with key Legislators.
- Recognition by the House Committee on Health and Human Services.
- Photo opportunity and brief discussion with the First Lady of Tennessee.
- The afternoon concluded with more visits to legislative offices with the delivery of promotional materials.
I would like to recognize the following for making this day and campaign a success!
- Delegation from Belmont University
- Delegation from Chattanooga (Siskin Rehabilitation Center)
- Delegation from Nashville State Community College
- Delegation from Tennessee State University
- The letter writing campaign by Milligan State University
- Margaret Beasley for developing promotional material for our table at Legislative Plaza
- Joyce McDaniel and Jane Ferrell of our new management company for making all the necessary arrangements and contacts. Without their assistance this day would not have been a success. We are truly blessed to have them in this role.
- John Williams for his preparation of participants and for his strategic leadership
Now, I make this sound like it is over.... IT WON'T BE OVER UNTIL THE BUT PASSES. So please take some time now to contact your legislators to support legislation that would establish OT as an essential service! and that funding for OT be restored for client's with TennCare coverage. |
