About This Course: TNOTA is partnering with three other state OT associations to offer a series of virtual CE courses to members in all four associations for CE credit at no cost to our members. Short Description: This course will cover information regarding pediatric feeding and opportunities for collaboration between OTPs and SLPs.

Course Objectives:
  1. Identify the 4 areas of Pediatric Feeding Disorder (PDF)
  2. Examine 3 different approaches to therapeutic interventions 
  3. Differentiate between OT’s scope of practice and speech therapy’s scope of practice in regards to PDF
  4. Utilize assessment information to collaborate and develop appropriate therapeutic intervention plan 
Presenters: Ruth Bourque, MS, OTR/L and Rebecca Morrow, MS, SLP-CCC
Ruth has a clinical background as an occupational therapist in pediatrics with a specialty area of feeding, eating, and swallowing. She received her bachelors degree in Psychology at Spring Hill College and a Master’s in Occupational Therapy from the University of South Alabama both in the Mobile, AL. She currently works at the Children’s Hospital in Savannah, Ga on both the feeding team and the occupational therapy team. She has experience in hospital, outpatient clinic,  and home based settings. She has enjoyed volunteering with Feeding Matters since 2019. She has been on the conference planning committee for both the Shanon Goldwater Summit/Feeding Matter’s Pre-Conference and GOTA’s annual state conference since 2022. She is a member of both AOTA and GOTA
 
Rebecca is a pediatric speech language pathologist with specialty in feeding and swallowing. She works at the Children’s Hospital of Savannah doing outpatient therapy, NICU and inpatient. She is a member of the feeding team in NICU and pediatric acute care. Rebecca received her Bachelors degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Syracuse University and her Masters degree in Communication Science and Disorders from Georgia Southern University. She is an ASHA member.
