2011 Awards Descriptions

 

All Awards require one “Reason for Nomination” essay with supportive information and contact information of three (3) nominators.

TNOTA LIFE MEMBERSHIP AWARD

Honors a member of TNOTA who has demonstrated a career-long commitment to the field of OT through professional activities and community involvement.

Criteria:  Minimum of 15 years of sustained activity in OT and at least 10 years of TNOTA Membership.

Limit: one per year.

OUTSTANDING TNOTA MEMBER OF THE YEAR

Acknowledges an individual member whose activities during the past year have exceeded the scope of professional responsibilities in a manner which enhances the practice and image of OT in Tennessee.

Criteria:  Member of TNOTA

Limit: one per year.

TNOTA AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE

Therapeutic Practice:

For developing innovative treatment techniques and displaying skills of a master clinician with widely recognized expertise.

Research: For work leading to the advancement of OT theory and/or validation of OT treatment.  This award may be given to an individual or a group.

Administration and Management: For setting standards of excellence in carrying out organizational and supervisory functions for the delivery of OT services.

Education: For outstanding work in academic or clinical instruction of OT students or personnel.

Fieldwork Education: For outstanding work in academic and clinical instruction of OT students at a fieldwork location. This award may be given to an individual or fieldwork site.

Leadership: For creating a vision for the future, inspiring and empowering others to action for furthering the OT profession.

Criteria for Awards of Excellence:

Member of TNOTA.

Limit: one per year in each category.

STUDENT AWARD OF EXCELLENCE

Recognizes extraordinary efforts of a TNOTA student member for professional and/or community based activity promoting the practice of OT.

Criteria: Member of TNOTA

Limit: none

COLLABORATIVE AWARD OF APPRECIATION

Recognizes the work of TNOTA non-members in the support and advancement of OT in Tennessee.  Efforts may have involved financial or political support, publicity and/or education for consumer groups.

May be awarded to an individual or a group.

Criteria: Non-member of TNOTA

Limit: none

SERVICE AWARD

Acknowledges contributions of TNOTA members who have served the association on the Executive Board, committees or special task groups, or through time invested in task-specific activities.

Criteria: Recipients shall have performed all assigned and voluntary duties in a timely manner.  Board members shall have a greater than 80% attendance at meetings.

Limit: none.
